Description

My first image of M1. It was also one of the first using the new Starizona focal reducer. Stacked 90 40-second exposures at iso 200 from one night, 21 Oct 2022. This supernova remnant is about 6500 ly away in Taurus. The supernova that produced it happened in 1054 A.D. The reddish filaments are composed mainly of ionized He and H. The diffuse bluish/whitish regions are synchrotron radiation produced by electrons spiraling in strong magnetic fields.
